Ms. Karen Lewis was named principal at Dr. Gustavus Brown Elementary School in 2018. Ms. Lewis began her career with Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) in 2008 as a vice principal at Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer Elementary School, where she served for eight school years. Lewis then became vice principal at Dr. Brown for two school years before her appointment as principal. Lewis began her career in education in 1990 in Brooklyn, NY as a school counselor. Prior to joining CCPS, Ms. Lewis was an assistant principal with District of Columbia Public Schools.
Ms. Lewis has a bachelor's degree in mental health from Morgan State University, a Master of Social Work from New York University and a Master of Science in educational leadership and administration from Trinity University. As principal, Ms. Lewis looks forward to working with students, staff, parents, and the community to ensure that all students are receiving a challenging education, that inspires them to be productive members of society, and lifelong learners.
